“Chelsey has been amazing with our non-verbal child, she is able to really connect with him, where others couldn’t. She is talented at what she does. My son can actually use a communication device, where so many attempts with others have not been successful. Can’t say enough about how much she has transformed his life for the better and how grateful we are to have her be part of his life. Highly recommend her ability to listen, observe and her intuitive qualities to problem solve. Thank you Chelsey for your ongoing support!” – Darlene Schopman

“My wife and I have had the best experience we thought possible with Victoria, she has gone above and beyond to provide expert advice as well as take the time to thoroughly explain every part of her plan. We truly feel lucky to have her working with our son and couldn’t imagine having any other SLP. Thank you again Victoria, Luca truly benefits from having you on our team.” – Jaime Guevara

Inspiring Client Story

I had been working with a client for some time who had both a receptive and expressive language disorder. He was in Grade 6 and often struggled in school. We were spending time working on figurative language and specifically identifying the hidden meaning in commonly used idioms. As a Grade 6 boy, he was not overly interested in this topic, until one week when I came to his house, he came running downstairs to show me a quiz he had done in Language Arts that week. His class was learning about figurative language and before beginning their unit, they had taken a pre-quiz to show their knowledge in the topic already. My client was so proud of himself and said that he always did so poorly on the pre-quiz at the beginning of a new unit, but could not believe that he got a perfect score on this quiz! It was so rewarding to see him acknowledge all the hard work he had been putting into our sessions and realize the progress he had made.

Creating Strong Connections

I began working with a client who was looking for a means of communication. We introduced AAC and within weeks they were using it to request snacks and self-advocate for breaks. We saw tremendous changes take place in a short amount of time, and together we built a strong connection by watching, listening, and responding. I can’t wait to see what comes next for this client!
